Getting to Kefalonia

Kefalonia is an Island of contrast from enchanting shores to its breathtaking natural mountains. It has a wild beauty which not be found elsewhere. It’s an Island of surprises just waiting to be explored.

Argostoli is the main town on the west of the Island of Kefalonia and is approximately 30 minutes drive (10km) to the village of Lourdas. Villa Magdalani is not under the flight path so there is no aircraft noise.

Flying to Kefalonia

You can fly to Kefalonia direct on charter flights during the summer season of May to October from most major airports in the UK and depart on Sundays with the flight time approximately 3 hours. The airport is known as Kefallinia (‘EFL’). Kefalonia can be reached by scheduled flights from many international airports via Athens (‘ATH’). Scheduled  flights direct to Athens operate several times a day on Olympic, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic & Easyjet. Daily flights are effectuated to and from Athens and the flight time is of about 45 minutes.

Ferry Information

Being one of the top 3 destinations of the Ionian Islands, the Island of Kefalonia is linked with various places.

  •      Daily ferries serve the harbour Patras (3hrs 30 mins, main port on the western Peloponnese).

Patra – Kefalonia (Sami, east of the Island) – Ithaca

  •      The port of killini (1hr 15 min, about an hour south of Patras)
  •      Kylinli (on Peloponnese) – Kefalonia (Argostoli, west of the Island)

Killini – Kefalonia (Poros, south of the Island)

Killini – Kefalonia ( Lixouri, west peninsula on the Island)

  •      The port of Astako Aitoloakarnamias (2hrs 15mins)

Kefalonia ferries also offer regular connections to Kefalonia and Ithaca as well as to some harbours of Italy ( Brindisi, Venice, Ancona, Bari)

There are other ports, which serve smaller routes around the Island to Lefkas, Ithaca, and Zakynthos.
